New Website format : why are some posted photos viewable & other not...

...when not registered and signed in.

I've been hesitant to post asking anything , as I do not wish to draw the ire of anyone. But since now, that I have noticed that it's both ways (some photos showing / some not).

When I have looked here in the past weeks since the change , I have wondered.

It's very strange, was this an intended action (having to be registered, and then also signed in) upon redoing this website ?

As if so , it's obviously not working correctly. And if some unintended by-product of the changeover (hopefully so) . Is it possible to get it returned to the previous format (or just figure out what the problem is with.jpg files).

I believe , it seems to be tied to the type of format the image has been saved as. I always thought a 'jpg' file was the same as a 'JPEG' file , but maybe not. As currently .JPEG & .bitmap photos seem to be viewable without signing in. But not .jpg files .

Just thought i'd finally ask , as again , now it's hit & miss. So I would guess it's unintended.

What we intend to have happen with respect to image attachements regardless of type (jpg, jpeg, bmp, png, gif) is that logged in users see images inline in posts. Users not logged in see links to the attached images. This concept is designed to lower the overall data transfer per month (which we pay $ for) for non-registered users (notably robots, screen scrapers, etc...). Please look at the examples below.

If you are experiencing any other behavior with respect to attachments then there is likely a bug that should be addressed. Whenever possible please email, details and screenshots of the issue to webadmin at early911sregistry.org and we will get to them ASAP.
