FS 1970S Again, new seller on eBay

    Here is the new listing:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970-...item2c5898f0e3

Was on this board back in August. Think it turned out to be not-matching, is/was nice though:

Wonder why it is being flipped?

    Values and 'S'-ness

Current bid is $51.1k, with three days left.

If anybody wanted to know what the value of matching numbers is . . . here's your Poster Child. For want of a few different squiggles stamped on its case . . .

Seems to me, this car could be driven without guilt. Then again, all that pretty, pretty paint and detailing . . .

I wonder if it drives as great as it looks?

Did we get a definitive statement about the (apparent) non-OEM welding on the top of the front compartment shock towers? Thanks.

    mystery solved!

    Allen,
When Dieter owned this car Circa 1975-2005, he raced it and had a strut brace using the welded in plates I think you are referring to. Threw a rod, found a correct 2.2S case, a 70mm stroke crank with 2.2S pistons (84mm) and built a high compression engine(9.8-1.0). During the five years I owned the car it pulled like a freight train and never, ever leaked a single drop of oil. A fantastic engine built by someone who really knew what he was doing! The person I sold the car to found the guy who was Dieter's shop foreman during that time and he confirmed the history. The buyer did his own homework, got a great buy and no doubt made a tidy sum. All to his credit as far as I am concerned.

    Leon,

I thought that's what might have been there, welded. Thanks for clarifying!
