    Triumph Speed Triple EFI madness...

I've been working on a DIY approach to an 911 EFI system. I've designed adapters, fuel rails, brackets, etc. to adapt Triumph Speed Triple throttle bodies to 911 engines. I was attempting to blend retro-cool ITB looks with modern engine management. I'm using Megasquirt to control the EFI, Idle air, and ignition (soon on the ignition.) Enjoy the movie and pix and let me know what you think.

    Mark,
This little EFI project is following close on the heals of.... learning about, rebuilding (with your help),installing and setting up MFI for my 71E. It still amazes me how the Bosch MFI does everything...mechanically.... that the EFI does electronically. That really helped me focus on this. I just wanted a modern equivalent of the MFI.

    Regards,

    Al

PS: One of my local buds, James Brown, dropped off some beautiful crankfire parts, to be used on this project. I've installed them, as well as some nice silicone stack to TB adaptors, which finish off the stack mounting nicely, I think.....I also tried black vs. chrome stacks.......what do you think. Black, chrome, brushed?

    Ed,
That's what I'm thinking too, plus it has a nice rat rod vibe going for it, as well. It's unfortunate that I'll eventually have to add some filters, which will hide the stack bells. I'll will probably wait until I have those installed to decide on the stack finish.

    Ron,
No, no dyno time, but I expect that Tony Otero, once this engine is installed in his IROC clone, may take a trip to the dyno for final tuning...I'll post the results if this happens. I don't expect that this would increase horsepower any more or any less than any other comparable EFI/ITB system, although there have been fairly decent horsepower claims using this type of system. (I expect that if you search on this board and on the bird, you'll get lot's of dyno run info for EFI/ITB systems) My focus was on designing a relatively low cost system that will provide the advanced features of EFI/ITB with a programmable ECU. I.E. tunability, drivability, cold start, throttle response and retro-cool/stunning good looks. I expect that this system, as a stand alone, will increase horsepower, but......if you are really after horsepower....this type of system, combined with cams, compression, the right exhaust, etc. is not a bad way to go.

Looking forward to what the final cost, I seems that you have been very careful choosing all the components, This is a very cool project!
