Groved or smooth threshhold trim on a 67?

What should the original threshhold trim piece look like on a '67S? Are they smooth like the Stoddard replacement pieces or groved/textured like to ones I have? I was almost 100% sure they should be the groved/textured type until someone planted a nasty seed of doubt.

I'd appreciate a little help from the trim police on this!

Groved/textured. I purchased a set about 6 months ago from Stoddard and they were dead on correct when compared to my 67 originals.

picture reference. 62k mile 67 (smooth) with original interior (before I changed the carpet and seats), original interior 68 (grooved)

I've had 2 original interior 67's with smooth, every 66 and earlier original car I've seen had smooth, every 68 on had grooved, the question would be when did they change? Both 67's I had were low serial numbers, one Porsche, one Karmann, so my guess is they at least started 67 with the older smooth type. Maybe they found that with the switch from squareweave carpet in 67, the smooth type didn't work as well anymore with the new thinner carpet?

As far as I know, 912 had square weave. 911 had velour. In other wordst that can not be the reason for grooved vs smooth
