Metal work and paint in Texas

A question for the Texas Porsche experts out there--

I am getting ready to move back to San Antonio Texas, and need some work done on my 70 911. Specifically it needs the left rear quarter panel replaced, the Targa bar re-adjusted using the proper targa window jig tool, a complete repaint back to the original color (1414 Signal Orange). I am not that comfortable with recommendations for places in Northern Virginia, and was wondering if perhaps there were some good Texas alternatives anyone could recommend. Experience straightening Porsches and affordability are good evaluation criteria.

Texas location is not a huge issue as I can drop it off on my way down to SA from Virginia. Any suggestions?? Thanks!
    Chuck

Good point- I'll need to talk with him. He was first on my list for some MFI issues I have been having despite being five hours from San Antonio.

Nice work on the race car. That was some project. I have heard good things about Jones Autowerks, and they are close. Didn't know they did body work also, so I will have to check that out.

We only had 4 days to paint and assemble the car before a race. I have also rebuilt the stock 2.2S MFI motor.

Jones' does some body bodywork, but not paint. Like I said, they got one guy, and if your in line you may not see your car for a long time. Just bring a big blank check.

I was hoping to find some place for Porsches like Classic Jaguar in Austin Texas. The pictures of their metal work are amazing. My car has some issues from extensive repairs done in Germany in the 80s that I think require a Cellete bench and the proper jigs. Turns out that German beer crates are not good substitutes for a Cellete bench when replacing inner and outer quarter panels

I don't know anybody with a frame jig. You might try Laredo body & paint. but don't discount jones;; his body guy is as talanted as they come.

Why do you need a jig? was the car hit that hard?

OK- I'll be down there in a few weeks, and stop by Jones for a visit.

The car has multiple issues from a mis aligned Targa bar to residual problems from a pretty major wreck before I bought the car in 1982. Since I was going to strip it down for a color change (back to original) I figured I might try and address some other issues as well.

Maybe the targa bar doesn't align because the chassis is bent, in which case you really need a jig. Then if your gong to go to that extent to repair it, don't discount shipping it out of town to somebody that has a jig (And the dies), and who can do it right. I had a car in my shop last week with a similar issue but the owwner wasn't ready to spend the money to get it right. Good luck and let me know how it goes.
