Chassis number to date production - help rqd please.

Close friend of mine has been preparing an early car for rally use for some time now.
He's curious to find out when the car dates from. The car has been in his ownership here in the UK since being imported by him from the US in the late 90's. No plans to sell etc - just for interest and maybe to add to the database info here.
Any suggestions as to build date appreciated.
Car is blue. Paint tag code is 6403.

Another Porsche 911 within 10 numbers of your friend's car was built July 21, 1965. These two cars are some of the last 1965 model year cars built. Hope this helps.

6403 is emailblau, lucky with the color and it is a genuine 65 model year car as Allen confirms. My guess is the engine is matching. I can check if this is correct with my contact at Porsche if you like.
