With less than 1,000 U.S. Carreras ever built, these cars are becoming more and more rare and desirable as an affordable collectable early 911. Plus, with only 395 delivered in 1975, they are even harder to find in decent condition. Plus, it is exempt from all the California emission/smog laws.

This car is seriously a great car. It drives fantastic and is very tight. Everything feels fresh. I really can’t find much if any fault with this car. Plus, the current owner of this car is the perfect person to buy an early 911 from. He is very conscientious about his cars and takes great pride in their condition. No service or work was ever overlooked. Frank Hanrahan of Haus of Performance has been taking care of this car since the owner purchased it. He has gone through everything and if anything was questionable, it was simply replaced or rebuilt.

The current owner purchased the car a few years ago. The original motor had failed (very common with the 2.7 U.S. motors) so the previous owner installed a 3.0-liter motor from an 911SC. Chain tensioners were added as well. Extra oil cooling comes from a front spoiler mounted oil cooler. This extra power was mated to a 1974 915 gearbox that has been rebuilt and 3rd gear was lowered by two teeth. Attached to the gearbox is a Guard Torque Bias differential with 7:31 gears, billet bearing plate, a Sachs high pressure clutch, and lightened flywheel. Then, RS style bumpers and a ducktail from Getty Design were installed. The final touch was new H4 headlights and Carrera graphics. The car is an original black car. It appears that the car was repainted sometime ago and the paint looks great with some minor signs of age/wear.

The interior is very tidy and fresh. Perfect simplicity. A 380mm Momo steering wheel was installed. Hollywood Speedo rebuilt all the gauges. An oil warning light was installed where the clock goes. However, we have the clock as well and it works great. The seats are classic early 70’s Sheel-look buckets from GTS seats. The roll bar is a bolt-in roll bar with new Schroth DOT belts. A lightweight carpet kit was installed with custom Coco mats. The stock shifter was replaced with a billet Wevo shifter and coupler…perfect for this car.

The goal of this car was to build a fun and light early 911 that would be fun on canyon drives or any other early 911 event. The owner estimates that about 250lbs. was removed from the car. Besides the glass bumpers and engine cover, the a/c, heater, rear seats, and radio were deleted. The door panels were replaced with RS America versions. Also, a lightweight Odyssey gel battery was installed. This is a very rare sunroof delete car from the factory. Most U.S. Carreras came with a sunroof.

The owner has most of the original interior pieces as well as the original 16x7 and 16x8 wheels. These are available at an additional fee if anyone is interested.

The suspension is not too aggressive. It was simply tightened up to make it more fun to drive without sacrificing the ride. Koni shocks were installed with 21mm and 26mm torsion bars. The trailing arms are adjustable with all new suspension bushings. Original sway bars were kept. A front strut crossbar was also added for added stiffness. The car was slightly lowered for that aggressive stance.

Custom 8x17 and 9x17 Fuchs by Lindsey were installed with fresh rubber (225/45 and 255/40). They really give the car a great look.

Probably two of my favorite touches to this car are the transmission and the exhaust. After three different exhausts were installed, a custom made system finally had the right sound and look. It has baffles that can be installed or removed to adjust the sound. It has that great early 911-race car tone without all the volume or noise…it is just right! The shorter 3rd gear and lightened flywheel really help the engine spool up and go. It is a fantastic addition. I love it.

Most everything mechanical is either new or freshened up. The motor was removed from the car and gone over. A leak down and compression were performed and the motor appeared to be pretty fresh. A new tune-up was performed and any oil leaks were addressed. The engine is very tight.

This car has never been tracked. The current owner did 3 autocrosses to help set up the car. That is it.

The car comes with its original spare, owner’s manual, and recent receipts of work done.

California registration is paid through April 2011.

Whoever buys this car will end up with truly a great car. One of my personal favorites I’ve ever had in the Kennel.
