    "Engine-turned" trim

Just found this in a 1975 catalog - I thought this stuff only existed on the dashboards of Trans-Ams? :
Has anyone ever seen it in a 911?

My 912 came with the threshold plates. I took them off immediately.

Back in The Old Daze this was a common accessory for 911/912s and 356s. This week, while inventorying his old parts stash, my pal Bill Edwards showed me a brand new set of Haneline engine-turned 356 threshold plates, still in the original cylindrical shipping container.

I've got one of the floor protectors that's never been installed. Up till 2 minutes ago, I had no idea what it was.

The threshold plates were on my '65 356 when I got it in 1977 from the original owner. I do not know when he installed them but I just kept them when I recarpeted.

Personally, I love these things. To me the give the car a more "period" [read: hippy dippy trippy] feel.

But, there's no accounting for taste...

    Bugatti knew no limits!

A type 57C engine compartment. Typical for the marque.
