    67 S Question

I have a 67 911, that does not have an S after it's chassis number. However, it does say 911S on the metal tag above the chassis number and the car seems to be in S trim. Also, the PO says it had an S engine in it when he bought it. Anyone have an opinion?
    Thanks
    John

    Hi John.
The best way to get at your question would be to post your VIN# and engine #, then let the learned folks here (not me) decode them for you.

PS- also post a pic of your car for us to ogle

    Cheers

Where does it not have the "s" stamped?... The chassis number on the metal tag doesn't always have an S after it. However, for it to be an S, it does have to have the S stamped after the chassis ID on the stamping up by the smugglers box.

The metal tag says 911S in the top left corner in the box marked TYPE. The Vin does NOT have an S after it on the tag, or on the chassis near the smugglers box. I would not have thought it was an S except for the S options and reported S engine.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks

If the stamped in vin by smugglers box does not have an s then it is not an s. I have a 66 that has 911s stamped on the aluminum plate on front of luggage compartment.

Mark, Thanks for the reply. I am sure you are right. Incidentally, I have a couple 66's that do not have an S next to the 911 on that plate. That was another reason why I wanted to ask the question.
    Regards,
    John
