Martin Brundle abour the XJR9 that finally displaced Porsche from winning le mans since 1980, from Jag's own website:
“The Mulsanne Straight … is a public road, a Route Nationale, complete with trees, cafes, houses, telegraph poles and everything else. Trucks run down it, and produce tramlines in the road. And this is where we’re flat-out for over a minute at 200mph. It scared the hell out of me. Then there’s the Mulsanne Kink. It’s not a kink, it’s a bloody corner. But somehow the Jaguar Le Mans cars felt totally at home there. It was like riding a bike. When you’ve done it once, it seems easy thereafter.”

    Another great car guy gone....

he could peddle a car round a track pretty well - thats for sure and he was darn good at getting the most from his sponsors - if I recall correctly my old company's sponsorship of the F1 Arrows doubled when Mr TW took over , okay it did include Damon the then new F1 World Champion but double was a wee bit stiff - and our logo which consisted of 2 separate and different coloured triangles was not correctly orientated unless the car flipped over - which it did once .....

During the days of GTP, I had the good fortune to be at one of the races at Laguna Seca where the Jaguar ran. Although each car (Porsche 962, Nissan GTP-ZX Turbo) had its own distinct sound (who can forget the turbo pop-off valves?), the best sound by far was that of the Jag V-12. I sure miss those days. Mr. Walkinshaw will certainly be missed.
