    Question about Paint Color/Code

Just got the COA for my 1970 Champagne Yellow 911E.
I thought it would answer my questions about the color of the car but nooooo.
It's missing some info like the transmission number or the MSRP that I often see but here's what I got for the paint color.

    Paint to Sample/98

    What does it mean?

From what I could read, Champagne Yellow was not offered in 1970.
6822 was last offered in 1969.
Why is my 1970 Champagne Yellow?

Because of it's build date? (11/69).
And yes, I'm new to the wonderful world of early 911's.

    Paint to Sample...

The customer requested this color at a extra charge at the time of ordering the car...

I agree. Not only is it not an official option for the production year, it was also an extra cost option for the 1968 & 1969 model years. This is rare and rather unusual; congratulations. It is also common for the transmission # not to be recorded; I'm not sure why that is so. It is very rare for them to provide a MSRP except for the newest cars; I don't know why they bother having it noted on the COA.

    Thanks for the explanation.

Engine number is matching as per the COA and the maintenance record book.
Still has the original paint and MFI.
    California car.
Just got the car so I don't have nice pictures of it.

Waiting at the Canadian border services agency.

Arriving at the garage for inspection.

    Hi Raj,

Not sure I made myself clear when I asked "Why is my 1970 Champagne Yellow".
I bought the car because I love the color.
What I was asking is "how come a 1970 911 is Champagne Yellow when they stopped offering them in 1969".
I wasn't questioning his taste in color.
Quite the contrary, I agree with you and thank him for it.

It has more to do with the fact that french is my mother tongue ...

    Yes it is.
I may be new to the 911 early cars but I know a good/great car when I see one.
I did my homework (thanks to a friend in California), and found out that an early, with original paint/suspension pan is usually a good buy (when all the rest is as nice).

    There is a 69 911s undergoing a restoration...the paint code seems rather odd...appears factory, blue-steel grey...code is 76-81-9101-H

    Hi
Nice car! Beautiful colour. I myself bought a 70E in CA which is undergoing a restoration. Was just wondering about Canadian customs holding your car in a compound. I will have to go through a similar process in a few months.
I've spoken to a few people who brought older cars up and as long as the border agency had the necessary paperwork 72 hours before you showed up at the border and you had the funds to pay the duty and taxes getting the car in was a fairly straightforward process.
Any foresight on your experience would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Marc

I have seen mention of both these two line codes, only in 1969 & both 911 and 912, and I believe that both refer to silver.
    76-81-9101-H / T7-94-0503

A photograph of the data plate and the VIN would be most useful to my research.
