The Porsche powered a/c are essentially going to be grounded due to a FAA airworthiness directive (AD) being issued against the engine and Porsche not producing the required parts to comply with the AD due to liability. Sad to see them exit the friendly sky.

I thought Porsche recalled all the engines so no Mooney has one now?
And I correct? Had that Mooney had its engine replaced?

    Porsche Mooney still flying

There are many Porsche planes (Mooney, Cessna and Robin) still flying. The reengine plans for the Mooney airframe was abandoned after Hurricane Charley destroyed the conversion facility in 2004. There are at least 10 Mooney planes still flying with PFM engines.

There is no doubt that the Elster is a beautifully restored plane. It is the plane of the Porsche Museum but curiously is powered by a Rolls Royce engine.

There are many flying Porsche powered planes in Europe (Porsche Robin, Porsche Mooney and Porsche Cessna), including the Iconic Porsche powered Mooney, registration number DEAFE, which flew around the world in a 1985 promotional flight. These planes would be more suitable flagships to highlight the aviation chapter in Porsche history but have been overlooked.

I don't fly but I find these machines fascinating. Is there anything different about the core engine shown here that is upgraded over the automobile engines in terms of reliability or durability?
