Are 911S Cars Still in Strong Demand?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Hello:

I am new to this board.........

I have seen many early S cars for sell from dealers to private owners....it was a dream to own one......it puzzles me why they are so much more then just a 911T maybe its the amount made? Of course much faster.

I have a 1973 911T siver/targa and its very nice and I see them like mine for about $20,000. A nice one on Ebay sold last week for $17,000 with matching numbers but wrong seats....but not a bad price..

Why is it that I see S cars for 3 times that amount in the same condition.....

Now to my question.......a friend has a 1973 911S silver/targa like mine a number 3 car........he is retiring and moving and wants $45,000.......will this car go up and be more valuable then my 1973 911T for $20,000 conditions about the same? I don't need both cars.......and he tells me the 911S runs a little on the edge?

Or is $45,000 and my $20,000 way out of line? Does anybody know a good place to just get a idea of early 911 values? as a gude only because I see prices but never really seen the cars except on Ebay........and this economy is lowering prices I think....but my Dad once told me there is never a break on rare desirable items....buy the best you can....and maybe when guys bought the 911S they shelled out much more dough.......and in the long run...smarter?
