69 911E Soft Window Targa for sale

Offered for sale is an ultra rare 1969 911E Soft Window Targa (reputed to be 1 of 12 built). Finished in its’ original Polo Red with black leatherette interior, this is a matching numbers example with many desirable options - Factory Soft Top, Fog Lights, Sport Seats , Ski Rack and tinted windows among them. The car retains its’ correct 2.0L engine with proper 1969 MFI, and the original 5 speed transmission. Fresh from a restoration completed last summer; the car is recently resprayed with Glasurit single stage Polo Red, and has a new soft rear window, carpeting and restored soft window targa top. The car is in excellent condition throughout, with all mechanical systems and accessories in working condition.

In addition to the Porsche COA, the car comes with significant historical documentation. Perhaps the most unique feature of the car is the original copy of the Manufacturer’s Statement of Origin – this incredible document details the delivery to the attention of the Commanding Officer at Zweibrucken Air Force base in Germany. The document records both chassis and engine serial numbers, shipping weight, HP, year, model, etc. and bears stamps from the Porsche factory and the Central Warehouse at the airbase. The original owner is shown as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army – further documentation shows that he would bring the car back to the states and retain it until 1979. Built as a US export model, it has the rear parcel shelf (rear seat delete) and US spec gauges. The odometer shows 119,000 miles.
An extensive portfolio of photographs, receipts and documentation detailing the entire restoration is available on request. Recent leakdown numbers range from 2 to 8%, the car is absolutely ready to jump in and drive. The car is located just outside of Madison, WI – prospective purchasers are welcome to inspect in person or arrange a professional inspection.

As anyone who has had the privilege will tell you, Soft Window Targas are an absolute pleasure to drive. On hot days, the rear window can be kept down while the targa top remains in place to provide protection from the sun. This provides all the fresh air of a convertible without the roasted forehead. With no obstructions, another bonus is the more audible engine note. Stowing both tops gives a full cabriolet type experience not otherwise available until much later in the 911 program. Light, nimble and quick like any longhood 911, this car will not disappoint.

The car is priced at $90,000 for further information, call Jim at Bach Racecraft (414-688-6604) or Steve @ 608-437-1400. Email inquiries can be directed to steve@midwestproto(dot)com.

I'm happy to send more photos, but apparently can't attach more than 5 to this post??

    Thanks,
    Steve

Hey my old ski rack looks great on car Steve.

    Stacy,
This car is really nice. I saw this SWT at the Elkhart Lake Concours at the Kohler Int. Challenge. Jim Bach did a really nice restoration on this 911.

Well, Steve if the skis are included then how could this pass this up?

Seriously, best wishes on the sale. The car itself is fantastic but with all the great documents it is really special.
