    Steering wheel restoration (73)

    So guys:

If I wanted to restore a 73 steering wheel with a leather covering, who would I go to if I wanted the best possible results?

Or if there is a thread on this, could I ask for help in finding it? Being a confirmed Ludditte, I could not find anything using the search option

    Thanks,

John, I've had very good results from a place here in Dallas called, strangely enough, "Dallas Custom Wheel" They restitched the original leather on my 72S wheel, and have done some nice recovering on customer wheels.

John, I've had very nice results from Tony at Autobahn interiors... www.autobahninteriors.com He's done a half dozen wheels for me in the last couple of years, and I believe has also done many for other board members. You can ask for the leather ends at the spokes to be turned under (looks good with a hockey puck), or leave them cut off (skived and blunted) like the factory did.

    cheers,
    Eric

    Ed and Eric,
Guys, thanks for the help. Now on to the research portion of the project. I'll contact both of the suggested vendors. Meantime, if you ever get to Cincinnati, I owe you at least a round of Sarsparilla.
