DFG, Select special steel, Selected steel

For the LWB cars Drop Forged steel was (still) used. Some time Selected special steel and/or selected steel was phased in. Can anyone shed more light on this and put a date to it?

I bought a 45,000 original mile 71E targa from the original owner. The toolkit had two "selected special steel" wrenches in it, 14 x 15, and 17 x 19.

I was also the 3rd owner on a low mileage 73S. The toolkit in this car had sat under the spare tire for years and years, and was in really bad shape, but it was all complete. It had only "drop forged steel" wrenches in it. The pliers were not Hapewe.

I personally have not come across another kit either in a car that I've owned, or bought separately that contained any "selected special steel" wrenches. I hold the option "open", but I've sold a few cars in the last couple of years. All the cars went out with complete toolkits that I usually had to "complete" for the new owners. I sent them all out with "drop forged steel" wrenches, and no Hapewe pliers.

Look forward to info from others on the wrenches.
