FS: Very Early Hockey Puck Horn Button

I have what I believe to be an early all-metal hockey puck horn button. I am not an expert on these and invite the steering wheel police to provide any insight. This will need some restoration, as the finish on the metal has worn off and the chrome on the ring has also disappeared, but the leather is truly remarkable, with only some slight patina along the upper edge between 9-12. Happy to take more photos. Asking price reduced to $225. Thanks and Happy New Year to all!

Update based on input from others (see discussion below): This is most likely a converted batwing

Can you please post some very good close ups of where normally the wings will be to make sure it's not a converted bat wing.

    Thanks

    More photos per request

There are some marks on the body at the 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock position but it did not occur to me that this could be a modified bat wing horn button. Feedback appreciated. Thanks

Its probably a modified Batwing.Ive had that idea for a long time.Properly finished, it will be an elegant piece to add to a wood wheel.......Cliff

I bought one like that :-(

After looking further into it I tend to think that metal hockey puck's were never OEM (in those days) but are always modified bat wing's. Still if one likes it he can use it. Or use it as a donor (it has nice leather and a original ring).

I was under the impression, based on a few threads on this board, that the all-metal puck was used on very early cars, but that is the extent of my knowledge on this subject. I would appreciate any other opinions, but given the potential that this is a modified batwing, my asking price is probably too high. If there remains any interest, I'll drop the price to $225. Leather really is great. Thanks

What is the cut-off for metal versus ribbed plastic hockey puck?
