Thread: 1970 T hot rod

    Question 1970 T hot rod

I have been spending some time (3 1/2 years) building a car. It is a long story...I just got the motor in and I am getting ready to advance on to the next steps. The entire car was stripped down except for the wriring harness, and now that I am attempting to put everything back together (I did not take it apart), I have some loose wires I want to account for. Is there any possibility of seeing an early 1970 or 1969 wiring harness diagram with colors indicated?

The 1970 had a specific wiring harness for that year - there were a couple colour changes over 69 and the addition of 1 yr only items - noteably the wiper circuit.
I'll take a look and see what diagram # you need

Im also building a 70t hot rod. Mine is 95% complete. I have had a difficult time with the wiring diagrams. It seems the 70 is a bastard. Lots of trial and error. I would love to see what Andrew15 comes up with. Thanks in advance!

The Wiring diagram for the 1970 T/E/S is SL35.
I don't have a scanner, but I could take a 5mb picture and send it to anyone interested

Thanks! I never go to RL anymore since I sold my 993. Never thought about looking there.

I just got my 1970T running (videos at: http://www.youtube.com/my_videos?feature=mhum ), and spent quite a bit of time on the wiring. I have the diagram you just obtained, but did find some differences, although I do believe my harness is original. If you have any specific questions I'll try to help out.

    Thankx Mike.
I need to get my oil light to work (pressure/level gauge work fine) and my Tach.
I have an MSD added and the Tach reworked to an 8K redline, but i need to hook it up. The weather here was been bad the last weekend, so no car work. She has been changed so much before I got to her, and now my changes, it is not a job, it is an adventure.

I don't have a tach either. JPNovak has said he got the tach to work using 'Y'-ing the points trigger wire to the MSD with the original black/purple tach wire (if I read him right). This didn't work for me. However, I don't know if my tach worked before this rebuild. Car was DOA.

My oil light comes on even though I don't have an idiot light sensor, only a pressure sender. I'm not sure where it's getting its signal from. So can't help you there.

Adventure is an understatement. Good luck.
