What am I sitting on? Literally...

I posted this over in the 911UK forums, but they directed me here (I am in US). Essentially I am just going to copy/paste what I put over there. If any addition pictures are needed for identification purposes, please let me know:

Bought a car recently (not a Porsche, and I am not a Porsche guy) but was told the drivers seat is a from a classic Porsche and somewhat sought after. It's fairly tattered unfortunately. I have pictures (bad ones) here and would like some help identifying exactly what it I've got. My reason for asking is I want it out of my car (trying to get it back to stock) and want to get it to someone who can use it for their restoration (potentially, if it's even anything at all).

That definitely looks like a 911 sport seat, which is nice to have, and you will be suprised what "restorable" seats sell for, especially with all the hardware.

    Hi,

This is an aftermarket Recaro seat, but it will be correct for the 67/68 911 or 912. That being said, the sliders will work, but the base will have to be adapted to fit into a Porsche, the bolt holes that attach it to the floor won't line up with the Porsche spec.

I've had something very similar in the past, recall that it came from a BMW, and I had to adapt the bottom base to work.

A search here will bring up a potential price for you... or somebody might PM you.

    Eric

Ok, before I get taken out behind the woodshed... here's some caveats.

The fact that it has a headrest makes it only really "correct" for a 1968. Tony can countour the seat cushions to make it more correct for a 67.

Also, with the correct base it will literally just bolt into any 65 to 73 car.

Those Recaro sport seats were optional on the '02s. See here for the diagram.

You might want to check with BMW Mobile Tradition to see if your car was originally ordered with it.

yup, that is definitely also a very sought after BMW 2002 option, just restore it and keep it in your car.
