Thread: FS: Ultimate 40mm Weber Carbs: Complete, Plug and Play!

  1. #1

Thumbs up FS: Ultimate 40mm Weber Carbs: Complete, Plug and Play!

These 40mm IDA carburetors came with the motor I am putting in my car. These carbs, like the motor, were built by Levon Pentecost and literally have under 20 hours of time on them, all of which was spent in a test rig. The motor they are pulled from is a 100+ HP/L 2 liter, GE60 cammed beast.
You can check out the dyno sheet here...

As nice as they are I have finally accepted that they are expendable since I am using MFI and won't be building another motor anytime soon. Plus, I need to remove the dent from my account that rebuilding my MFI pump left.

Asking premium dollars for premium carbs:
$2250.00 + shipping (but don't hesitate to make an offer)
I will consider parting the manifolds and air filters to sell the carbs, but will not sell the manifolds or filters separately unless the carbs go first.

    Specs:
    40mm Weber IDA carburetors
    Modified boosters
    36mm venturis
    Tall auxiliary venturis
    Main Jet: 140
    A/C Jet: 170
    EmulsionTube: F3
    Idle Jet; #5-50, #1-#6 55
    Manifolds ported to 38mm
    Italian made IDTP Webers

    PMO fuel rails
    PMO tall manifolds
Freshly zinced and safety wired hardware
    Performance air filters
    100% complete, 100% satisfaction guaranteed.

Please excuse the color if it's not your thing...

Why does nr.5 get a smaller idle jet?

I don't know as the expertise that went into building the motor is out of my pay grade. I do know that the motor had lots of tweaks done across the cylinders to account for minute variances to ensure that cylinder pressures were identical while running. This included individualization of the camshaft profiles on a per cylinder basis. I would not be shocked if this was the case here, but can ask the builder if he recalls specifics. I do know that not a single detail or decision was made without quantitative test data on this motor.

Yep, that is the site. If you click on the "Grey Matter" link, the "many others" are far more impressive than the folks listed. But we digress...

    These carbs are everything promised.

To address a recent question, the manifolds are ported to 38mm and they are indeed original, early, Italian Webers:

The original description is now updated to reflect this.
