Hi
Question from a 911 newbie
I am upgrading my 1972 T with S calibers, so I need a pair of 3,5" struts, I have found a pair from a 1978 turbo, Will they fit my 1972 T?

I believe so. I will defer to the experts, though. The spindle may be different if the Turbo front wheel bearings are different. I know the rear wheel bearings are different but I think the fronts may be the same as a 911. The turbos, of course, had different hubs for the wide track.

Can't think of any reason they wouldn't, you'll probably have to update your ball joints to the wedge type though. A good update anyhow.

I recall reading that on the early turbos they also raised the spindle to keep the front end from diving.I dont know when though. S
Anti-dive on Turbos was not done through raising the spindles. It was done by spacing the front A-arm mount down and cutting out the rear sheetmetal where the crossmember sits, then welding in a different piece that located the rear A-arm mount and crossmember higher in the chassis. This side view A-arm axis angle is what gives the anti-dive. The strut has nothing to do with it and it should be the same, or at least interchangable (except for the later, wide hub).

The 72 clamp nuts that adjust wheel bearing play and thrust washers will be too small and need to be replaced with late pieces. GLed
Thanks to all for there input on this

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I thought just the Koni's used the smaller clamp nuts and thrust washers and the Bilstein/Boge's used the larger ones,.......
If he has Boge's, those should fit the 930 Bilsteins, yes?![]()
