    Help- Old registration docs

Does anyone here have any experience in tracking down the original registration documents for a car in 1965 as I need to find proof when my car was first registered. Have the names and details of first owner. Car was sold by a dealer in Delaware but to Indiana resident.

Also what was the registration process in 1965 for a new car, in particular if sold into another state?

Any advice, suggestions, ideas, etc. would be much appreciated.

I am not sure what happens in the US but here in Australia the initial registration number was written in the owners book that came with the car (or at least in my case). Also Porsche was happy to help with registration numbers (not names although I had some of those) but I expect it depends on who you speak with and how much they are willing to bend the rules to help. Also my original service book has the various registration numbers recorded in it as they changed, but again that may be unusual.

given it was an out of state initial purchase that may make it harder to trace.
