RSR "style" brake discs sample - new machined discs

    Hi,

We have been testing some machining on new brake discs to replicate the "style" as used on the RSR. Our machinist cross drilled the discs first and then using some original RSR pics for ref added the additional holes in the rear disc bell. These discs are 3.2 discs but this could be done to any disc.

    Thanks for looking

    Alan

I agree. I am not a fan of the cross drilled wear area, but the holes in the bell are cool. Not so much inertia reduction at that radius, but little reductions all add up to big performance gains.

Instead of chamfering the disk holes, you might consider peening. I used a large ball bearing and a BFH. I'm told this will hold off the cracks longer.
