The first official month of production was August 66. My 67S is from that month and is RHD. There were six RHD 67S's imported to the UK between August and December 66. I know of mine and one other. As for 1967 production of LHD or RHD cars there are lists on this and other boards which show all 'known' member cars.

There were at total of 3887 SWB 911S according to records:
    1967 911S coupe 1818
    1967 911S Targa 360
    1968 911S coupe 1267
    1968 911S Targa 442
I currently have 276 of these listed in my database; about 7%.

At least the first two were produced in May 1966 and 30537x completed in July & August.
Soterik should be able to help with a date for yours as he has one on either side of your VIN. I'm guessing mid December.

    Welcome to this board

    911DP, welcome.
For comparison, 306956S was made December 15 1966. Possibly you car was made closer to the end of the month.

A kardex would be the document to verify it's date of being made.

There is a group of earlier cars (232 Registry) that has been trying to find all of the remaining 1964 (year of production) cars for almost the past three decades. To date 26% can be accounted for including some that have met their demise. With more cars/engines being found it is possible that there will be no more than 30-35% of the production accountable.

The 911S having been a very desirable car over the years - so with a larger quantity (3887) to start from would garner many still in existence - but about the same percentage. This is just my guess - of the 1967/1968 911S less than 1400 cars remaining world wide.

(Hopefully this 911S Registry will prove me wrong..... they are way cool cars.)

    Thanks all...for this marvelous resource.
This is a point of interest that I have had since acquiring my '67 911 #307349, which when I purchased it (ebay) out of Calgary seven years ago was told that it was the 'next to the last 911 made in 1966'. Matching engine number - 911183 - is also just before 1966 yearend cutoff. Porsche Technical Specifications (1st edition) seems to support that contention - Paternie's Red Book is less definitive. Are those the dates production began, completed, or documentation recorded? I know that the COA dates (in my case 04/27/67) are as likely to delivery date as to be manufacture date.
I realize that Porsche did not adhere to a pure numeric sequence in vin production, but was a span of 234 numbers (307117 - 307350) over 48 hours unusual? Actual production could not have been many more than 15 - 20 vehicles per day.
Appreciate any insight on this question.
    Cheers -
    Hank
