    Weber help

    I measured my float levels and need to correct 3 of the 4.

    1. Two of the needle valve plugs are really tight and because they are brass, the wrench or socket is coming close to stripping the plug. Any suggestions on how to remove them?

    2. Where do the adjusting washers go? There is a fiber washer between the needle valve and the carb body. Does the adjusting washer go above or below the fiber washer?

    3. Should I replace the washer under the plug?

    I take the carb off (you'll need the access) and use a socket and impact driver. That's why you remove the carb, need room to swing the hammer. The fiber washer IS the shim, you'll make it thinner or thicker by having a selection of washers or combination thereof to get the thickness you need. If you have the aluminum plug washer by all means replace it, if you don't you can usually get by reusing the existing one.

    Horror story: The hex on the cap was severely butchered and we had to have the cap milled off.

    Thanks for all of your input. I never would have thought that this "little" problem would be such a PITA. I'm waiting to receive some new plugs before I plunge into what looks like a major project.

    Another trick is to grind the face (opening) of the socket. If you look at a regular socket the edges are rounded. By grinding the socket face flater it provides a better "Bite" with-out messing up the hex
