67S Fan Housing

Trying to source a fan and housing for my 67S, found one which looks OK on another site but wanted to check it's the correct one for a SWB

Casing P/N is 901 106 101 5R

I do know that in 1967 the housing is sandcast. Isn't 5R magnesium? Than it would be 68 and up.

Hi Garry if you have not already locate one; I have an extra '67 250mm sand cast aluminum fan housing.

It is in good shape and even has a core alternator if you need it.

My experience is that early 67 cars have sandcast magnesium housings. Later and most have die cast magnesium.

Is the sandcast housing magnesium, or aluminum? They seem to be stronger than the later housings. Can a 65-67 fan and housing fit a later engine?

The first picture is a 250mm sandcast aluminum shroud, the second a 245mm sand cast magnesium, third is a die cast 245 magnesium.

My relatively early un-restored 306597S has the die cast magnesium shroud. My later car (308330S) and the other two 67S Ive owned all had die cast mag shrouds. I've never seen a 250mm alu shroud on a 67.

Garry you probably need a die cast mag 245 with no coil mount studs. Now try finding one that isn't corroded, or hasn't been ruined by blasting, grinding or powder coating!

I'm not sure where the fan info chart came from, but it has a number or errors in my opinion

How certain are you of this table? Ol' Ivory ('67 911S) is a COA mid-Sept. 1966 car. Engine is numbers matching. Unless the engine builder swapped the shroud on me, the 901.106.101.OR sand cast is original to the engine.
