    185 HR 14 tires

I'm looking to replace the tires on my '70 911E.
Looking in my owner's manual, I see 185 HR 14 as the original tire size.
    Original 5½ J x 14 Fuchs wheels.
Would 185/60/14 be the right size?
I was offered Pirelli P6 tires in that size.
Looking for a good tire to cruise on the highway on sundays...
No track or spirited driving for that car.

    Thanks!

I think 185/60-14's will work but will probably be a bit shorter than the original equipment tires

So 65 would be closer to the original size?

Actually, the original works out to about an "80" profile in modern terms.

I have a set of 185/70-14s on a set of Fuchs I have, and I can tell you they're still noticeably short--about 6% off. If you can't find the 185 HR-14s (Vredestein makes one), then you might be able to get closer with a 195/70-14 or even a 195/75-14.

Here's a tire in the correct size VREDESTEIN SPRINT CLASSIC TIRES 185SR14, these are very nice tires by the way, I run them
on my Jag and just ordered a set for my Lancia.

Here are a couple of photos of my 1970 911E coupe (sold) with 195/70-14 tires on 5.5"x14" fuchs with 1/2" spacers

    Vredestsein or Michelin for vintage.
    185/14 is about a "78" series tire
Modern 205/70 very close in height but wide.
Modern 195/70 about 1/2" short but better looking (my choice).
