    1970 911 Silver Mettalic code 925

I am getting ready to do a mild restoration on a 1970 911 coupe. It looks like the code for this year was 925. It also looks like two codes one for coupe and on for targa? It seems funny that Porsche would paint both cars different, but who knows. Does anyone know the correct glassurit code for a coupe in silver that year? Thanks Dewey

The Red Book says that Silver Metalic was color chart #925 and paint code 8080 for a coupe.
Not sure this is what you were looking for, but hope it helps.

    one color number: 925
    one color code:80

The marketing boys got into the Schnapps one day and decided on a body/roof color scheme. I've never seen a two tone coupe, nor a targa with a roof other than black from that period, but if they did build one, they had the code system in place. So they had the code system xxyy for 1970 & 1971; xx for body and yy for the roof. That is why the targa was listed as xx10 because the roof was black. Black coupe and black targa were then both 1010. If anyone knows of a targa with other than a black roof in 1970 or 1971 I'd love to hear of it.
BTW, since the 914/6 only had black tops they did not bother with the xxyy scheme and just used xx.

Thanks for that explanation Dave - I've always wondered why there were different colour codes for Coupes & Targas - now I know !
