'65 911 VIN # 300278 is home! Lots of pics

    Hi all,

I was very excited today to get the car and take a few pics of it.

It has the four screw horn Grilles...paint is faded and chipped on the hood, front bumper trim is incorrect. It needs a full strip down and repaint. It came with a nice, spare set of chrome 4.5" wheels...the ones on it now are 5.5s. Has a nice original orange hood badge.

Is that the proper engine lid grille for an early '65?

The pepita seats and the rest of the interior and carpet are in amazing condition! He had seat covers on them, and a dash cover so there are no cracks in the original dash at all. The upholstery is very nice, but the padding is flat...is there a way to re-pad these without destroying the original upholstery?

It has the original wood wheel with the thin black metal rim. I put a magnet to it, and it stuck to both the spokes and the thin rim, so I'm guessing it is steel, not aluminum.

The engine still has the Solex carbs, dual mechanical fuel pumps, and Bendix. It also has the '65 style valve covers as you can see in the additional photos I've uploaded at the link below.

I took the door panels off and knee bar to verify the VIN numbers, and they all match! So neat to see the perfect Bali Blue under the door panels...I don't think the sealing plastic had ever been disturbed. Pics of this and more are here:

Very, Very cool. The grill looks correct anf just like the '65 build car I used to own. You can loosen up the nuts at the ends of the rods and dissassemble the whole thing if needed.
    Great and COMPLETE.
    Congrats!

Raspy2point2...I did not get a PM from you, try sending one again or emailing me by right clicking on my name.

Thanks for the compliments. I'm excited about it, but this is going to be one hell of a big project!
