    Seat Belt Shoulder harness Anchor

I just bought a set of reproduction Autoflug seat belts with the Y-shoulder harness setup for my 68 911. My concern is anchoring them cleanly and without modifying the car...if that is possible.

I have observed several cars with different methods of anchoring the shoulder harnesses. On some cars there appears to be an existing horizonal threaded anchor on each side in the rear package shelf. I have not removed mine and examined it, but feeling around it doesn't appear that my car has those.

Some have utilized a harness guide bar behind the seats, but I don't see one available for 1968 models.

And then of course, I have seen others just drilling a hole down thru the rear package shelf and placing a large washer on the underside from the engine bay area...seems a little crude to me, but...

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. Pics would be great. Thanks in advance.

I'd remove the rear shelf cover to see for sure whether you have that factory anchor before worrying about other options. I thought 68's all had that feature. Won't take long to verify.

I removed the rear package tray tonight and located the rear tray threaded holes as Ed suggested. Roger's pic shows a partial view (part of it is blocked by the luggage strap). I won't use the side mount in the quarter. Thanks for all the help.

    Freddy,

I don't know about where the original poster got his, but take a look here:
    http://www.vintageseatbelts.com/prod...c_frm=projects

He usually posts stuff he has for sale on eBay (currently no belt sets - must be summer holidays!).

I'll put in a plug for Bill at "Vintage Seat Belts" He did a custom set for my 67S recently, very happy with the result. Good guy to work with, and good product.
