rubber draw latch front hood - good enough?

I was wondering in my " get rid of it if it's not needed moment.." are the rubber draw latched enough by them self for holding down a Fiberglass front hood ? i really don't want to have the std catch and cable and tube as well if i don't need it .

More than adequate, John. The choice can be aesthetic... here are three 911's each with different hood latches; mine has rubber.

I would never run a hood without the safety catch. Put on your rubbers, Remove regular latch post and spring but keep the secondary catch. Seen too many hoods up over the windshield, so be safe. Gordon

I had a rubber latch on my fiberglass hood when I first built the car. One speed run down a bumpy road and I found one side had popped loose. Yes, they were installed pretty tight. That was enough to drill the hood and put pins in place.

I would not run the rubber latch without a secondary safety catch. The factory one works well.

You guys are absolutely right... sorry, should have made clear the secondary catch remains.
