Shouldn't a SWB car have 3" bolt spacing?

Andy you may have solved a mystery for me. I was told I needed 3.5 for my swb Koni suspension. I guess it was bad information. What are steel 3.5 calipers then? Thanks.

3.5" steel calipers would be the A caliper that replaced the aluminum S caliper about 1975.

Tom, that is true for the M caliper, but the M has only 3.0" bolt spacing for the mount, and uses a smaller pad than the S or A calipers. AFAIK, the S caliper was used first on the 1969 E & S, optional on the T; except for the 908 version. This came with the new suspension introduced with the LWB cars. SWB cars only had M front and L rear calipers. 1969 went to M rear calipers.
