Sport Seat Cordoroy

Okay need some help from seat experts

Were different cordoroy's used for the sports seats - did it differ with seat codes - I have code 17 (leather /cordoroy).

The RS book really doesn't show the material close up, although the cord looks quite fine.

I have a fairly standard black cordoroy on mine. Seats were re-done by Auto's international- you could get a sample from them. I did not have the original to compare it against, but it seems to look and feel like what I remember of the original.

The original has not been available for a LONG time, and the repro stuff is different.

It's VERY hard to tell from the pictures. My RS, which has the original cordory, is not in the garage, otherwise I'd go look and try and make a better guess. I would err on the side of yes at this point...worn, but looks original to me.

The factory cord is VERY wide, I believe it's a 4 or 5 wale cord. Meaning 4 or 5 rows per inch. I have to literally snowshoe into my barn to get a measurement, but I have to pull a few things out, so I'll get a picture an a measurement later today or tomorrow. The cord of the sport seats in RS's didn't differ from the regular production run of seats for 911's in 1973, in "my" opinion. Though I'm sure there are those who might have a different opinion...

All of the cord I've seen lately is a country mile from the original.

According to Tony at Autobahn and others, the cord on the seats in my RS is original. I'll see if I have a pic somewhere, as the car is in storage right now.
When Tony restored my seats, he went to great lengths to save the material.
