    My Visit to Louisville

If you ever have a chance to travel to other parts of the country or world (or even just other parts of your state/province/etc.), try reaching out to other board members in that area. I was contacted by fellow board member Bud Theobalds (member name = cjtbt) when he noted that I was traveling to Louisville, Kentucky on business from the San Francisco/Bay Area. I’m very glad he did!

On Tuesday evening, I visited Bud (on the left in the photo) and Tony Proasi (member name = 911quest) at Tony’s shop, Stuttgart Specialists. I was welcomed with a beer and then had a chance to tour Tony’s extensive shop and just have a good time talking about early 911’s and cars in general. I got to see Bud’s 1970 911E which he has had for about 8 months and has been restoring and enjoying the heck out of it (I need to take a lesson from him!). Here’s a link or two to the story about Bud’s car:

I also saw Tony’s 1969 911S and learn about his local race track escapades. They then were extremely nice to take me out for dinner at the local Mexican restaurant and our discussions continued. I went back to my hotel at 10 PM after a very enjoyable visit.

I’ve been invited back to take a spin on the local country roads. I hope to be back soon on business in Louisville! And we all hope to see each other at the Rennsport Reunion in Monterey this October. I promised them both a beer.

PS – Sorry about the crappy cell phone pictures. It was the evening and it was starting to rain.
