Does your comment about needing '200 sets' mean that you are manufacturing or have access to repro wheel arch trim strips?

    Hi Marek,

I am not sure there should be any rubber trim and would not go by any PET system if that what it says. I have personally removed many sets (maybe 15 or 20) of wheel arch trims from cars, (some of which were very original cars and were original fitment- I could tell from the rivets used) and not one used a rubber gasket.

    Not sure if this helps

    Thanks

    Alan

His first line says "I am in the finishing process of wheel arch trim for LWB" so I would say absolutuely yes.

There is a 3/8 inch vertical rubber on the inside of the trim!

I have many sets and on some sets there is a 3/8 inch wide thin piece of rubber glued on the inside of only the vertical part that goes against the outside fender lip, the part that you see...

The 1973 parts book does not show the rubber but maybe it comes installed and not available separately?

Parts Catalog, section 8/12, page 6, no illustration but next below the fender strip, part number 999.911.160.40 is says "Scotch tape for ornamental strip at the fender (when ordering please state length), necessary 4 m." The suffix of "40" on the part number stands for plastic. Sounds like double sided tape to me.

My original paint, original wheel arch trim 73 just came back from a "salon treatment" at Paterek Bros. They took off the wheel arch trim, which I saw. The inside of all four pieces had a thin strip of rubber or vinyl, which was hard to identify after 38 years. What I can say is that it's black, it's stuck onto the vertical part of the trim, with a little overlap into the horizontal section, and it runs the full length of each trim piece.

Google says that "Klebeband" means adhesive tape. Mine certainly could have been narrow vinyl adhesive tape that had deformed after 38 years.
