    Engine rebuilder recommendations - Northeast

I'm hoping someone could help with some recommendations for a good engine guy in the northeast for our 69S. Car is currently in CT. Long story short motor was rebuilt before we bought the car (stack of receipts) but I don't trust what was done. Car has nothing over 4K (falls on it's face) and blows a lot of smoke on startup. Would rather have a matching number engine looked at (or torn down) then something more catastrophic happen. Thanks in advance,

    Scott

You could PM Rick Cabell, he's in VT. I know he would do a good job.

You might also talk to Jeff Adams, former Gerry McCarthy guy. Brilliant with four cams, so I ould imagine he could do anything. Automobile Associates is a full restoration shop and not for the feint of wallet.

Musante Motorsports in S. Windsor at 860 291 9415 is another option. He will fix what is wrong.

I've hear good things about Dan Jacobs as well. Dick Hyland too, but he's probably booked up for the next five years.

    Cool

Rick Cabell in VT, but he's booked for 10 years. Had to give him credit, but don't even think about calling him.

Rick is the guy if you can get him.
I will throw out Kudos to Kevin at Randolph Racing in Stoughton, Ma. He built my 2.8 RS spec. mfi engine in 06 - I have about 12,000 miles on motor - spirited driving (no track) - runs strong and pulls like a freight train. I found him a pleasure to work with, he did what he said he was going to do, on price, and on time.

Peter Dawe. Without slight to the many fine engine builders in the Northeast, they don't come any better than Dawe. He went to work for AnDiAl in 1975. . .

I would second Peter Dawe. A couple of weekends back Tom Gentz and I were at his shop assisting Peter with the rebuild of a couple of 901 transmissions for Tom. Once the last one was done, he turned his attention to showing his youngest son how to build a '67 911S engine. His other two are already quite capable in this regard. Peter is one of the nicest and most capable engine builders you'll ever meet. I don't know how many of his engines have run at Sebring but it's a bunch.
