Euro help! VERY interesting manual sunroof

    Sunroof experts,

Here's a unique one. This Porsche was sold by D'IETERN FRESES in Brussels new in 1970 (I have the original "window sticker"! What I THINK is the D'IETERN (also a coach builder as well as a dealer) installed this VERY PROFESSIONAL manual sunroof which includes, btw, proper drains (pictured) in the engine compartment. And, btw, changed the paint color 41 years ago from Pastel Blue to Black. ) Anyone seen this kind of sunroof before, could it be the ONLY one of its kind? ? I looked (not that hard yet) for a manufacturer but haven't found it. To operate, you pull pack on the pictured recessed lever and back it slides and up pops the wind screen; reverse to close. Help !? Thanks.

When I saw that D'Ieteren tag in the trunk. I knew that sellers information had to be wrong concerning the car being purchased in Germany .

The information "story," no doubt had some gaps. A "story" isn't always good, often pejorative, in fact. Pictures showed a great car however, which it is! And, isn't Belgium in Germany anyway In any case, what do we know about this kind of sunroof? Thanks.

    Olde Threade Alerte . . .

Did anyone ever ID this sunroof installation?

Looks pretty slick --- like the factory manual 'roof on several of my old BMWs . . . 'Golde' or something?

Not sure I would call that a professionally installed sunroof, with those 'home depot' style aluminum L brackets and no felt around the opening. Judging by all the water stains on the headliner it wasn't very waterproof either. It would be interesting to see what the Kardex says on this one.

No, no formal ID. BUT there is another car from the L.A. area that has been on and off eBay and Samba with an identical roof. My guess is that it was a Los Angeles company that made and installed these. BTW, the car above sold to a broker in Paris, France. Who quickly sold it to an (ex or quiet recently at least) list member. The sunroof almost for sure would NOT be on the Kardex. Thanks.
