Heading to Paint Soon - Original Metallic Gold or Tangerine?

Well, I picked up this 1971 911T project a few days ago and have to do something with it soon. I bought it as a parts car, but it's complete and is relatively rust free (California until 92 and then a barn up here in dry Alberta). It's too nice to part out and with it being in bare metal I have to get cracking to get it prepped for paint in the next week.

The owner thought it was an original black car, but it shows that it was originally metallic gold 8888.

So the choices are - Do I go original with a somewhat unique metallic gold or tangerine (a colour I really like )

Any help or opinions on metallic gold would be appreciated - I've already checked and I can get a Glasurit match for that year / colour code.

    Thanks
    Andrew M

    Thumbs up

    Andrew,

You got'a go with what you feel.....

However, lots of tangerine cars out there...
Here in SoCal Eric W. has a drop dead 8888 hot rod...

I've always had a soft spot for the old British Alan Mann racing livery of red & gold, I bet someone could work something out on an Early 911 with gold and red.... ;)

    Cheers

Andrew - I had a 71T back in 1976 that was originaly gold and poorly repainted. I striped it and finished it with the original gold color - it looked great. It is a unique color that is hard to photograph, but looks very good in person. There are not many around. Have fun deciding. - Jim

I voted for gold as I am a strong proponent of originality...that being said...you control the purse strings! Keep us posted on your decision and the end result.

Go gold. This town's only big enough for one tangerine car (which no one has seen in 2 years - *ahem*)
