    Engine Fire

    Hey Guys,

While driving to work today in my '73, I had a small engine fire, my first one. A good Samaritan had a fire extinguisher, so it ended as a small fire too. That is the very good fortune; the bad part is that it wasn't a halon extinguisher.

When I got it home, I poured several buckets of water on the motor to wash away the residue. What else should I do? The shops I know are jammed up, so it could be a week before it gets attention.

The irony in this is that just last week I was doing a little shopping on the web for a fire extinguisher, because of a post on the 356 web site. Didn't pull the trigger because I wanted to look around a little more. Lesson learned!

    Thanks,
    Ed

Ed, just got a 912 in my shop with bad engine fire.
    I pressure washed the compartment.
It has a lot of damage though.
Do you have any body and paint damage?
