FS: Vintage S-Caliper Bargin (69-70)

Well, we've been trying out various anodizers to perfect the finish.

Here's a set of 1969-1970 calipers that came out well but, we weren't totally happy with the final result. Mainly, we wanted them to polish out the calipers a tad bit more before re-anodizing but, that didn't happen.

The calipers have been stripped, soda blasted, lightly polished and re-anodized. The knockback pins have been removed making these perfect for racing (or street frankly... ATE did away with knockback pins in 1975).

They have all new seals and new DuroAno pistons. There's even new fluid inlet o-rings and fasteners.

Bleeders and compensating lines have been replated.

If you want all of the muscle and weight savings of Porsche's famous S-Caliper (basically the same caliper that won the GT class at Le Mans in 1970) and you're not too concerned about the cosmetics of what's hiding behind your wheels, these are a perfect match.

1st Caliper - You can see a slight amount of pitting they didn't polish out. Notice; no piston circle on the tops of these. These are 1969-1970 calipers. The first S-Calipers out of the 908 caliper casting:


Not that it will eve be seen but, the bottom was soda blasted and not polished at all. You can see the new "DuroAno" piston peaking out in this picture:


Backside of the first caliper. Nice sealing surface for the copper washer but, more pitting is evident. All of the corrosion is out and the caliper has been reanodized so, it should be good for another 40 years:


Caliper #2 - Overall these calipers are in great shape, functionally as good as anything that's left the shop. If you want the real deal S-Calipers for your ride and don't care about the cosmetics hiding behind your wheels, you can grab these for basically the cost of a rebuild:
