    Torq Thrust D Wheels

    Hi guys,
I got these wheels on a '68 912 (I know this is a 911s registry ) that I recently purchased. I'm getting conflicting reports on the vintage and maker of these. They look just like American Racing ones to me, but how can I know for sure? I think I want to sell them but need to know what they are first.

    thanks,
    Dustin

If they are American Racing Wheels, they will say so om the back side. You may want to do some more cleaning of the back sides.

    Dustin,

I sent you an email a couple of days ago on these. From the pic they look to be aluminum. I've linked another guy to this thread who can help identify them. Can you please get back to me when you establish a price? I'll shoot you another email.

    tks,

None of the Porsche torque thrusts were marked on the back.

I'll take another picture tonight now that I have them off of the car so you can see them without the lug nuts. They did have 21MM lug nuts instead of 19MM if that means anything.
    Thanks

Those are 100% American Racing Equipment aluminum Torq Thrust wheels for Porsche; probably 15x7.

Sorry that I couldn't respond in more detail earlier, but I was limited to my cell phone. Anyway, as Tom stated, those are 15 x 7 Aluminum Americans. Not as desirable as the magnesium wheels, but interesting nonetheless. For whatever reason, American broke from their normal practices for all the rest of their aluminum Torque-Thrusts and did not cast "American Racing" on the back of the Porsche wheels. Of course, no magnesium torque-thrusts, Porsche or Domestic, had the casting either.

    e-good luck with the purchase.

    Raj,
Being an aluminum wheel, the ribbing on the back of the spokes is not indicative of anything special...all the aluminum wheels had the ribs on the back of the spokes. Also, only the 7" and wider had the 5-ear center caps. All narrower wheels (5", 5.5", 6") had a snap in cap and were only magnesium.

Also, to my knowledge there were no other Torque-Thrust style wheels made for a Porsche by any other brand. The Roadsters.com site, while educational, is not applicable to the Porsche bolt circle wheels. All the rules that he states are thrown out when it comes to the Porsche wheels.

Sorry Raj, I misunderstood your comment about the ribs. The early versions of the magnesium Americans had hollow back spokes, and I thought that was what you were referencing.
As far as a off-brand Porsche torque-thrust, I would l like to see any pictures you can find. I havent seen one.

I have a set of 7x15 aluminum American Racing Torque Thrust D wheels that have 4-3/4" backspacing and do not have any
of the threaded tabs for the hub caps and the hub cap opening well take a Fuchs ring style cap. I have never seen a set
    like this before?
