Fun at Sebring with my '67S

I purchased this '67S in November 2010. It has been a race car for nearly 15 years. Original plan was to just keep it as found and enter some HSR/SVRA events....well, after discovering two broken valve springs....the top end of the motor got rebuilt and I had the whole car stripped of paint, reinstalled the original steel panels, glass quarters, and a glass rear window....I went a bit further then expected. Took her to the SVRA support races at Sebring this past week and had a blast. Shane Lewis drove the car in the Friday evening Sprint to a first in class and 8th overall turning 2:36's. Not bad for a single plug 2.0 S motor! Plan is to refinish the interior and make it suitable for street and track.

I was amazed watching that race, with late model Audi prototypes and 962s on the track with MG TDs. Speed deltas between 16 and 17 could easily have exceeded 75 mph.

I cannot say that I enjoyed the Enduro with the mix of cars. I am just not comfortable with that type of speed differential and how quickly they are on top of you. However, I will say that everyone was very well behaved and for the most part, the big cars respected those of us in the smaller stuff. I did enjoy myself in the Wednesday night practice and really enjoyed just watching what a pro can do in my car on Friday. My family and I have watched the in car video with Shane behind the wheel and it is a blast to watch.

Aside from feeling like a traffic director when the fast cars swooped in for passing signs, I actually enjoyed the enduro.
Great lesson in how to drive in heavy traffic! Keith, get any pics of der Pickle? My wife is not a photographer...
