    Frank,

Polo Red (Color Code 012) was offered 1966-1967 as No. 6602 and 1968-1969 as No. 6802.

    Here's what I have "heard"

1965, Nope, it was Ruby Red
    1966, yes, color 012
    1967, yes, color 012
1968, yes, color 6802 on my touch up tube (not repro, original)
    1969, yes, color 012
1970, it doesn't appear so, it was Bahia red.

I grabbed this info quickly from the book "Porsche 911" Brian Long, Definitive History, 1963 to 1971.

Might I also make a mention for those who don't have this particular book,...it's the best single book to put together great pictures and info that I think I have.
Combine this with the Meredith book, and Brett's authenticity series, and you have 3 of the best books to get most of the "quick" information you need.
    just my .02....

    Frank and Eric,

I should have mentioned my source. It's internal Service Bulletin No. C7 issued 10/70.

    From the Glasurit site...

Manufacturer Colour Name Colour Code Std. No. Aux Code Year Colour Class Colorinfo
    PORSCHE POLOROT 012 1966-1966

    PORSCHE POLOROT 6602 1966-1966

    PORSCHE POLOROT 6802 1967-1968

    The plot thickens...

Not really. Polo Red is 012 and 012 is Polo Red. Just because Porsche changed their color code every two years doesn't mean the color formulation changed. 012 is what Glasurit called it. Porsche called it 6602 (1966-1967) and 6802 (1968-1969).

Bottom line: 012, 6602 and 6802 are all exactly the same.

You guys are awesome! Thanks for the quick replies.

My car is going in for body and paint restoration this summer (glass out/bare metal job).....and I'm considering going with Polo Red rather than sticking with the original Bahia Red.

    Comments welcome.
    Cheers!

In case it helps to see a 68 polo red car. We are due to restore one later this year. A few pics here:

    Thanks Alan.

All - Here's my issue....my car was repainted way before I bought it, so I'm not sure that its current color is truly Bahia Red. I've never seen another Bahia Red car in the flesh that I can compare my car with. My car, along with all of the Bahia Red cars I've seen pictured on this site and elsewhere appear to have a slightly orange hue....which I'm not a big fan of. The Polo Reds I've seen appear to be a slightly darker and richer red to my eye anyway. And, I'm thinking if I do change the color slightly, and stay in the same color family, I'll minimize negative impact on the car's value.

    thoughts?
