Interesting build...was there a 2.7 Carrera motor in 1975? No affiliation...

The only issue is there was no 76 Carrera RS, they had the 911/83 motors but were not RS's. Cool cars, used to be pretty cheap until folks realized what they were.

The blue RS clone was displayed at Techno Classica Essen. I had a look at the car and a quick chat with the restorer/seller (on another matter). The car looked decent enough but not 100% as you should expect for that kind of money.

Beautiful car, but I would lose the obnoxious ducktail.

    Not true.

The 123 2.7 Euro Carreras built for the 1976 model year were homologated as RS models.

Raj - this is from memory so some of the details may not be 100% correct ...

Grp 3 racing rules in '76 specified that engines must utilise the same induction system used for the production (road) cars but many racers felt the CIS used in the 3.0 Carrera was a poor substitute for mfi - hence the 123 Euro Carrera 2.7 models were homologated as RS's.

The VIN on these cars incorporates a '9' as the 7th digit (9116609XXX) - the Factory's indicator that it was something 'special' & to distinguish it from the '76 Carrera 3.0 (911660XXXX)
