    A bicycle carrier for "early" 911 Targa's.

I have built a custom bicycle carrier for my '70 911 Targa. The pictures give you an ideaof how the carrier looks.

I noticed that the engine lid hinge and the bumper over-rider line up nicely for mounting of a Yakima or other rail.

The pieces that are needed are:

1 A spacer between the grill on the engine lid and the rail.

2 An attachment piece between the lower end of the rail and the bumper over-ride. This shouldbe a quick disconnect

3 A set of pieces to secure the fork of the bicycle to the rail.

4 A rod between the bicycle and the other bumper over-rider, also with a quick disconnect.

All these pieces can be seen on the pictures. The fork is fastened with a front wheel release as used on the bicycle, the lower end also uses a (shortend)quick release. The rod has quick disconnect "ball socket" connectors on both ends.

If you have an interest, I will send drawings of these special pieces to be custom made, best by a machine shop, and further information.

The "set-up" fastens the bike very solidly on the car.

Looks good, I take the front wheel off my bike, put it in the trunk and then put my bike in the back with plenty of towels.
