Can you guys Help with some SWB 911 specs?

    Hi everyone,

I posted this in the Pelican Parts forum but someone suggested that you fine people would have a better idea about what I'm looking for. I'm currently studying Vehicle Dynamics at University, I have to do an assignment analyzing the design of a car, and I thought I would do it on my 1967 911 but I'm having some difficulty finding some of the specs so I thought this would be the best place to post.

I have to find the center of mass of the vehicle with regards to the wheelbase and also the height. Anyone know these figures, google has failed me thus far. I have the book The 911 Story, and according to this the weight distribution was approx. 41.5/58.5 for the SWB 911 but I cant ind anything about the height of the center of mass. Does anyone have an accurate value for this? Someone on the other forum suggested it was about 22 inches.

Thanks in advance for any help guys.

    Drew

The center of mass of such a complex object would need to be measured. Even then, you would have to have certain parameters such as level of fill of fuel tank, spare tire included, and the weight and placement of a driver if included. I don't know if the factory ever published the figure.

    Hello Drew.

Its quite feasible to measure this, using simple scales.

All you need to do it tilt the car to a known angle and measure the four wheel weights agin, then tilt to another angle etc to get as many data points as possible.

It simple trig to calculate the COG height.

    Kind regards

Yeah unfortunately my car is in parts and without engine/trans at the moment and at my mechanics workshop so I can't really use it at the moment. I think I am going to have to make an educated guess for the purposes of the calculations. Thanks for your help, looks like there isn't an official figure anywhere.
