    Aligning Bumpers

Is there a trick or special procedure for aligning bumpers? I've seen so many 911s with their front or rear bumpers not horizontal with the body. My '73 has always been perfectly straight and parallel. But my new '67 is not. I've looked underneath at the rear and it does not seem obvious that they can be loosened and adjusted. Maybe shims are needed? On the front bumper, the bumper lifts up near the wheel well. On the rear bumpers, they actually bow out in the middle - maybe I need to just push it back up in the middle, with some good force.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Jay

Jay, there is no trick to aligning the bumpers properly. If the car has been bumped in the rear, the bumpers will tilt down and twist.
The factory did use an aluminum shim on some cars on the rear bumpers.
On the front, you can loosen the bumper inside the front compartment to level it.
Also on the side brackets, you can put a few washers between the bracket and the bumper to level it there as well.
This was also done at the factory on most cars.
