Here it is:
304670
Thanks!
As you mentioned, it's not part of the Registry list (bummer!) and it has not shown up on eBay in the last 6 years. No luck on a classic google search. Thus, you'll have to dig deeper. I would pay $30 in a second to the search site you mentioned just to see if it's in there. Anyone else out there with other sleuth techniques?
Good luck!!

Here you go. These are shots of the car by the guy who bought it from my dad. The guy owned it for a year then sold it (my dad had owned it for about 7 years). My dad confirmed the headrests were "aftermarket" and the air conditioning was a "Florida" air conditioning - whatever that meant. Note the IL plate that is different than the one my dad had, that I was initially searching for.

304670 is not in my database, but I'll keep digging. By VIN it is a 1966 model year, thus should not have been an S originally. It is also before the 1967 Deluxe models built near the end of the 1966 MY. It was probably completed in late May 1966.

Dash and tach would indicate a Normale rather than an "S". Pretty car. What state is the "AT 4047" plate from?

The land of Lincoln - Illinois.
FWIW, the car was originally sold in Germany to a woman who lived there. She later moved to California where my dad bought it from her. Must have been an interesting woman to have purchased this car, new, in Germany and then move with it clear across to California. I don't know if that had anything to do with the possible upgrades the car had. I do know for a fact that it had dual Webers, but I believe a '66 911 with that VIN should not have had Webers. So, either just the carbs, deck lid and wheels were changed, or perhaps more...

Oh, here is one other tid bit, the car had a bracket on the left side of the engine compartment that held 6 spare sparkplugs.
If possible, please post pics of:
- VIN stamp in body next to gas tank
- VIN stamp on aluminum plate in trunk
- VIN and paint code plate in driver's side door jamb
As you can tell, we're all enjoying discussing your car!

Hey, you guys find me the car, I'll happily post those pictures!!!
I think I might have one more from the side, but none with those details.
I did note with interest that the carpet was the gray carpet, which I believe I've read was on all the cars then, regardless of the other colors - and this car with the tan/cork interior shows the same.
FWIW, those floor coverings and compass were added after my dad sold it!
