    Colortune for carb tuning

My thanks to Paul Abbott at Performance Oriented for his knowledge, patience, and help. He was essential to my ability to work through the process to properly tune my webers.

He recommended the Colortune tool. Once I figured out the installation and removal of the tool, it was invaluable to properly adjust the air/fuel mixture. It is not as precise as an exhaust analyzer but is certainly a lot less expensive and better than simply tuning by ear.

I found that installing the Colortune using my OEM Porsche spark plug wench worked extremely well. See photo. I added a little masking tape to the black plastic hex head holder to insure a snug fit to the Colortune tool. The spark plug electrical adapter fits through the OEM Porsche spark plug tool so the complete Colortune tool can been threaded into the sparkplug hole as easily as installing a spark plug. The Porsche spark plug tool can then be removed.

Using a mechanics mirror on a stick I was able to easily view the color of the combustion in the cylinder as I screwed the mixture screw in and out, to achieve the desired blue color reflecting the proper air/fuel mixture.

    Thanks again to Paul.

    Rob
