    Lightbulb Overriders/Bumper guards on 911S

Steve McQueen's infamous 911S has front bumper guards, but looking at factory brochures it seems that most 911S (2.0,2.2, and 2.4) came without them.

Perhaps they were mandatory in the US but not mounted on ROWs?

Not that it relates to your question , but isn't trhat a Full model range brochure

Is there a rear shot of that 1972 aubergine car , showing a 911 'S' badge ? If I had to bet , I would believe that particular car was actually an E model.

Didn't the S come standard with fuchs , and E with cookie cutters ? Also it does not have wide deco (did 72 E's always come with wide deco ?) . T's could even be built with cookie cutters and 'S' front bumpers. That might even actually be a T.

The bumper quards were an option , both with and without rubber. Each with it's own option number.

    Thomas, I believe
the difference in bumpers was between US imports (and other safety complacence countries) and ROW .........

That 69 Tourist delivery brochure with the orange targa looks like a 68 car to me with the side marker lights.

That is my understanding also Chuck.

Patrick at delivery with the US equipment. The only option is a rear tow hook, so the bumper guards were not optioned.
